Premed Logbook questions

Still unsure? Book a free consult and ask us directly.

Where is my information saved?

Only in this browser, on this device (its local storage). Nothing you type is sent to ProMed United or anyone else, and there is no account. To move your logbook to another device or keep a copy, use Export backup, then Import backup on the other device. Clearing your browser's site data erases it, so export a backup now and then.

Is it really free?

Yes. The Premed Logbook is free to use with no sign-up and no trial. Like the rest of the site, the page may count visits and button clicks (such as Export) through its analytics; it never sends what you enter.

Is the GPA the same as my AMCAS or AACOMAS GPA?

It is an estimate on the standard 4.0 scale with plus and minus grades. AMCAS and AACOMAS verify your official transcripts and apply their own rules to repeated courses, quarter hours, and how each course is classified, so their numbers can differ.

What does BCPM mean?

Biology, chemistry, physics, and math: the courses AMCAS uses for the science GPA it reports. Everything else goes into the non-science ("all other") GPA. Mark each course as BCPM or not, and the logbook shows both.

Which experience types and limits does it use?

The 19 experience types and the limits in the AAMC's 2027 AMCAS application materials: up to 15 entries, 700 characters per description, and up to 3 Most Meaningful experiences with 1,325 more characters each. The character counters show when a draft runs over; nothing is cut off. AACOMAS (DO) and TMDSAS (Texas) use their own categories.

How many hours, or what GPA or MCAT score, do I need?

The logbook doesn't set targets: what each medical school looks for differs, so check each school's own information. You can set your own hour goals on the Overview and track progress toward them.

Is there a tracker for the schools I apply to?

Yes: the Med School Cycle Board, also free with no account, follows every school from primary to decision, with deadlines, interviews, and the fees you enter.
